Cross Keys Homes opens City Centre based Work Club

Support is being offered to individuals by Cross Keys Homes to improve employability skills, and reduce dependency on welfare benefits.

Peterborough has seen an increase in Work Club attendance throughout 2016 as Cross Keys Homes launches new Work Clubs. Cross Keys Homes has recently opened its new Work Club, which is based in Peterborough city centre. The Work Club aims to offer support for people searching for employment by improving their skills, and offering motivation to help people to find work.

The new city centre based Work Club opened following the success of Cross Keys Homes’ established Work Clubs throughout the city, such as Orton and Westwood. Many have already registered and attend on a regular basis.

Cross Keys Homes is proud to be working in partnership with City College Peterborough to provide its latest Work Club, which is held at City College Peterborough, Brook Street, Peterborough, PE1 1TU, at 10:00 – 12:00 every Monday.

The new City Work Club is open to everyone, and offers free support to not only improve employability skills, but also to boost self-esteem while looking for work. The Work Club also provides guidance with: CV writing, application forms, preparing for interviews, accessing training, gaining work experience, and searching for jobs on the internet.

Helen Hutchinson, Programme Manager at Cross Keys Homes, commented: “Our weekly Work Clubs are always popular: they provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere whilst helping individuals with the support they need to secure a job.

“Unemployment negatively affects communities and individuals in many ways. But, we are able to positively help by addressing the issue and identifying where the level of unemployment is rising, then lead on developing support for that area.

“From January – August 2016 we have supported 87 people attending the work clubs. We ensure that our Work Clubs meet the individual’s need, as well providing a supportive group environment. Through this approach, we provide the best opportunities for people to get themselves into employment”.

Cross Keys Homes already have future plans to implement more Work Clubs throughout the city by working with partners from across Peterborough. If you are interested in attending, please contact Cross Keys Homes’ Communities team on 01733 396404 or email community@crosskeyshomes.co.uk
