Peterborough law firms Hunt & Coombs, Hegarty and Roythornes have joined forces with Peterborough Cathedral in its Peterborough 900 Legacy Campaign. Cathedral supporters and members of the public can make appointments with these three firms in the week 30th September-4th October 2013 for free legal help in writing a Will.
In addition, on Friday 20 September, following a drinks reception in the Cathedral’s New Building, a panel of legal experts will be on hand to answer any queries the public may have on Wills, Powers of Attorney and protecting your home against the cost of nursing care.
Every year, thousands of Britons still die without having taken the time to execute a valid and suitable Will. Whatever the reason for this, there is now no excuse in Peterborough as a simple will for free is available to all through the generosity of these three partner firms.
Peterborough 900 aims to build on the Cathedral’s endowment by raising £3 million to support the expansion of our Education Department’s schools’ service and to endow a number of positions in the Cathedral Choir.
Canon Bruce Ruddock, the Peterborough 900 Legacy Campaign lead, speaks with great passion about the importance and of leaving a gift to the Cathedral, and what a privilege it is to feel that, in some small way, a legacy will enable the Cathedral to live on for future generations:
“I will be leaving a legacy to Peterborough Cathedral, not only because I care about this wonderful place, but also because I am so grateful for being given the opportunity to work and live here. It is such a privilege to be part of the mission and ministry here and my donation (although modest) will be a small thank you for all that I have enjoyed at this wonderful place at the heart of this great city.”
These who wish to remember Peterborough Cathedral in their Will, will be especially welcomed.
James Dyer, Campaign Manager says: “We are very grateful to our partner law firms for entering into partnership with the Cathedral in this way. We hope that, through our Free Wills Weeks, we can encourage people to consider leaving a gift to Peterborough Cathedral in their Will”.
