A Curry and Quiz Night organised by the Barnardo’s Peterborough Fundraising Group raised over £900 for the national children’s charity.
The event, which took place at Peterborough Rugby Club on Thursday 21st November, was supported by 14 Peterborough businesses who entered teams to pit their wits in a good natured battle of the brains. Buckles Solicitors won by the narrowest of margins.
Barnardo’s Locality Manager and Strategic Lead in Peterborough Kat Band told us, “The fundraising done by voluntary groups such as the Peterborough Fundraising Committee is becoming ever more important in the current economic climate. The money raised will go directly to helping our work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and families in Peterborough.” Barnardo’s currently manages 4 Children Centres in Peterborough: First Steps Children’s Centre, Fulbridge Children’s Centre, East Children’s Centre; Gladstone Children’s Centre.
Event organiser, Barbara Spiller of marketing and PR firm, NB Marketing said, “We are really pleased to have exceeded our previous total raised at this event and it’s thanks to the generosity of the people who came and the firms who entered teams.”
The group’s next fundraising event is a Golf Day at Burghley Golf Club on Thursday 1st May 2014. Teams of 3 can enter for £160, including entry fee, coffee and bacon roll on arrival and a 2 course dinner.
