FORMER Channel 4 ‘Secret Millionaire’ businessman and entrepreneur Mike Greene was the guest speaker at a special conference aimed at small and medium sized businesses.
The conference, organised by city accountancy firm Rawlinsons, called Ready for Growth, was designed to offer small businesses useful advice on accelerating growth and maximising every opportunity. Over 130 delegates representing about 100 local businesses attended the conference.
Other speakers included Rawlinsons partners Ken Craig and Mark Jackson; Media Matters marketing director Karen McNulty who talked about increasing online business; and Tom Hennessy from Opportunity Peterborough, who outlined the range of funding pots available to local businesses.
It was Rawlinsons’ first conference of its kind and followed the Opportunity Peterborough Bondholders’ Breakfast meeting at the same venue.
“The event was very successful and initial feedback has been very positive,” said Rawlinsons’ senior partner Chris Collier. “All businesses need to maximise every opportunity they can find to grow and to give them a competitive advantage in their respective markets,” he added.
Mike Greene shared some of his personal experiences throughout his business life – both highs and lows – and offered some inspirational thoughts. He recovered from bankruptcy early in his career to become a highly successful businessman and entrepreneur who now spends much of his time helping the charity sector.
