Opportunity Peterborough is the city’s economic development company. Our core responsibilities include engaging with local companies to support growth and development, marketing Peterborough, attracting inward investment and leading the city’s skills agenda to ensure our current and future talent pool is work-ready. We also deliver a number of specialist projects to boost the local economy, and recently helped Peterborough become a World Smart City.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the growth of the local economy and the activities of Opportunity Peterborough and its partners by bringing new employers to the city and supporting existing employers to realise their growth ambitions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To drive inward investment activity, promoting Peterborough as a vibrant and successful business location, proactively seeking and converting new investment leads and facilitating international and domestic companies to establish themselves in the city.
• To build positive and productive relationships with DIT, the Local Enterprise Partnership and other intermediaries to maximise lead generation.
• To develop value propositions for key sectors and bespoke offers for investors.
• To develop strong relationships with local stakeholders in order to deliver tailored, introductory tours for potential investors and to assist investors with integration.
• To develop relationship with local businesses in order to help them overcome challenges and attain their growth ambitions.
• To carry out business engagement and inward investment activities on behalf of Fenland District Council, working from their March offices once a week, and generally assist with the fulfilment of the Fenland District Council Economic Development contract.
• To work with the OP team to fulfil external contracts and commissioned work.
• To support the successful delivery of the OP Bondholder network.
• To formally represent OP and the city at events, conferences and trade fairs; undertake presentations to a wide range of external partners.
• To carry out duties as requested by OP’s Senior Team.

Person PROFILE

Essential:

• Sound knowledge of the economic and business environment
• Experience of account management and demonstrable success in winning new business within a B-2-B environment
• Outgoing, proactive and creative approach to delivery
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present in public
• Strong use of initiative and the responsibility to deliver
• Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Desired:

• Direct engagement with inward investment campaigns.
• Experience will be paramount, but qualifications and training in relevant field would be advantageous.
