REPORTING TO: Skills Lead
SALARY: Approx £29,500 dependent on experience
CONTRACT TERM: Four days per week. Initial contract to end August 2018, continuation subject to securing further funding

AREA: Primarily Peterborough, Rutland, South Kesteven, South Holland and West Norfolk. Also, when required, to support colleagues in Huntingdonshire, East Cambridgeshire and Fenland. (Please note that the office base is in Peterborough)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Skills Service is working in partnership with the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to deliver The Careers & Enterprise Company’s Enterprise Adviser Network across the LEP area. This team is key to the LEP’s skills strategy that seeks to ensure that careers decisions and the curriculum are informed by the needs of local businesses. The project provides support to enable employers and education partners to connect at a strategic and operational level.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Work with Senior Leadership Teams in schools and colleges to conduct an initial diagnostic of their careers and enterprise strategy
– Work with the school/college to develop a CEIAG action plan
– Identify target businesses to become Enterprise Advisers to link with a school/college
– Introduce and match those Enterprise Advisers to the school/college
– Arrange regular follow-up meetings to monitor the success of the partnerships and delivery of the action plan
– Signpost to support for implementation of action plan through The Skills Service offer as well as other partners
– Build effective relationships with GCGP local schools and colleges, Local Authorities, businesses, employer groups and leading providers
– Engage with local employers and business groups to recruit and establish the Enterprise Adviser Network
– Work closely with Business and Education Development Managers (BEDMs) in The Skills Service
– Lead on communications and reporting to GCGP on The Skills Service delivery of the Enterprise Adviser Network
– Optimise performance of the Enterprise Advisers Network in the area:
       o Set a culture of excellence
       o Review whether the activities being provided in schools and colleges are meeting the needs of young people, schools and local economic needs
       o Promote and share good practice across the cluster of schools and colleges
– Contribute to a collective, team-wide approach to the success of The Skills Service
– On occasions, some flexibility of hours may be required to attend evening or early
morning meetings and events
– Update The Skills Service database with activity on a timely basis

PERSON PROFILE

Essential:
– Demonstrable understanding of the issues and barriers to employment faced by
young people
– Demonstrable appreciation of what motivates young people
– Demonstrable understanding of employers of different sizes
– Demonstrable understanding of the issues and challenges businesses face in
recruiting and retaining a suitably skilled workforce
– Demonstrable understanding of schools and college structures and working practices
– Ability to work with senior stakeholders to capture their attention, engage and enrol them in careers and enterprise activities for schools and colleges in support of the programme
– Ability to use and develop an evolving toolkit to create clarity and impact
– Ability to understand the needs of/constraints on schools and colleges, and support them effectively
– Ability to understand the needs of/constraints on employers and the self-employed
and to support them effectively
– Credible across business and school/college environments

Desirable
– An understanding of relevant local and national policy relating to skills and economic development
– Strong presentation skills

– Work as part of The Skills Service team and contribute to team aims and objectives
– To demonstrate understanding of, acceptance and commitment to the principles
