GDPR is not just about what marketing material you can send to your customers. It also covers all ‘data processing’ that your business undertakes, whether that is done on a computer or on paper.
If you are not now planning for GDPR, you probably should be. At this seminar organised by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, Mike Holland from OlsenMetrix Marketing will outline what the new law requires of you and how to stay out of trouble with your data.
Are we affected?
You are probably doing more ‘data processing’ than you realise. All your personnel records, for example, will be covered by GDPR as well as your customer records.
What are the new rules?
There will be new strict rules about what data you can and cannot hold, what permissions you must have to hold it, what you can legally do with that data and how you must keep it secure. The rules will apply in business-to-business operations as well as business-to-consumer.
What happens if we get it wrong?
GDPR will be enforced in the UK by the Information Commissioner’s Office. It not only has powers to impose huge fines it also has powers to direct you (on pain of those huge fines if you ignore the instruction) to stop doing things that may be important to your business.
What will I take away from this event?
You will leave with:
– An action plan for getting your business (and its data) into shape to meet the challenges of GDPR
– A 10-point checklist of things you need to do (one of which you can ‘tick off’ just by coming along!)
– Handouts which will include a template for a ‘legitimate interest assessment’ – a key tool in GDPR compliance.
Places are to be booked in advance and expect to sell out quickly!
