Eco champions from Buckles Solicitors have been digging deep to help the environment as well as creating a lasting memory for probate clients who have lost a loved one.

Staff from a number of departments of the law firm were invited to take part in a tree planting ceremony as part of the Forest for Peterborough initiative, a campaign run by Peterborough Environment City Trust.

The initiative was launched in 2010 to plant over 180,000 trees in and around the city by 2030.

Buckles Solicitors has pledged to plant a tree for every probate case, and signed up to the campaign in 2014 in a bid to help improve the local environment – but also to provide probate clients with a lasting memory of their loved ones.

Around 100 hazel trees were planted during a couple of hours at a location in the city, by eight-strong team; Rose Welch, Amelia Smith, Jo Wood, Nadine Jarvis, Zoe Wickison, Paul Gould, Matthew Porter and Beverley Diamond – under the tutelage of Project Officer, Simon Belham.

Sophie Day, Buckles’ Client Services manager, said: “We were delighted to once again be part of this initiative, which brings with it a real sense of team spirit knowing that we were planting the trees for two excellent causes – the local environment and as a living token for those probate clients who have lost someone close.”

The firm was awarded two star status in the Best Companies guide for 2017 and is Investor in People Gold accredited.
