AgriGrub is pioneering a sustainable solution to food waste in the UK using a remarkable insect called the Black Soldier Fly in the Cambridgeshire area. The managing director, Joe Halstead was a speaker at a Circular Economy workshop in October alongside IKEA and NIAB after Opportunity Peterborough connected the business with food producers, most notably, AM Fresh. AgriGrub is turning the waste fruit from the Peterborough facility into protein and pest control, reducing food waste and strengthening the circular resource loop in the local food supply chain.
“Thank you very much for having me to speak last week, it was really interesting. I’d really like to be a part of any future events you run, as a speaker, breakout session leader or just as an attendee. Opportunity Peterborough has been really helpful to AgriGrub so far and I’m really glad to know you all.” Joe Halsted, Managing Director, AgriGrub.
As a result of this engagement AgriGrub is now looking to move to new agricultural premises close to Peterborough within the next 6 month.
