What does your business do?
Helps policyholders in the Peterborough area make successful buildings insurance claims caused by storms, burst pipes, accidental damage, fire, floods or other events. Aspray Peterborough will also be responsible for project managing the repairs to the damage and always strives to reinstate the property to its pre-loss condition as swiftly as possible.
What’s spurred you into starting your own business?
Having worked in the corporate world for the last 20 years, I felt the deep desire to work for myself and rely upon my own skills and motivation to develop and run a business of my own. Owning the Aspray franchise territory gave me the opportunity to do that but also be supported and guided by a fully developed, and successful business model.
How did you come up with your business idea?
A friend was purchasing the franchise for a territory in the north west of England. I enquired about it and I was extremely impressed by the level of due diligence they put in to my potential purchase. I have had to claim on my own home insurance and it did not go well. Having the opportunity to help people in a time of distress is something I very much enjoy.
How has Startup Peterborough helped your planning / business so far?
Startup Peterborough has helped a great deal, it has allowed me to look at the early steps we took without guidance and double (sometimes treble) check decisions. It has also been great being part of a cohort that has given expert guidance and honest feedback.

Being solely responsible for the success of the business. If it doesn’t thrive, that’s my fault. Also….not having a boss. Can I say that?! 😊
