Housing association, Cross Keys Homes (CKH) is delighted to have been awarded £1.7million through the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
The money will enable CKH to ensure that all its homes reach a minimum SAP rating of band C, reducing the carbon footprint of these homes and reducing fuel costs for residents. CKH has invested heavily in improving the energy efficiency of properties over the last decade so that currently just 1% of its 11,000 homes fall below band C, – primarily its older homes that are harder to retrofit.
CKH has made a commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and this funding will support its strategy and its environmental commitment. The bid was submitted in conjunction with CKH’s maintenance contractors, Mears Group, who will support the delivery of the work.
CKH Chief Executive, Claire Higgins, said: “This is fantastic news and this funding will allow us to complete our programme to get all homes to C rating or above ahead of our target date of 2030. This is especially good news in light of increasing utility costs forcing more vulnerable people into fuel poverty, not to mention the escalating climate emergency the planet is facing. We are determined to do all we can as an organisation for the welfare of our residents and the environment.”
