Opportunity Peterborough has long been the city’s lead for inward investment and economic growth and its work has continued since the small number of staff transferred across to the council in February 2023, to deliver the service in house as part of our wider growth and regeneration work.

As a result, and as was always planned, a proposal is now going to cabinet to wind up Opportunity Peterborough as an external company, and, if approved, a formal wind-up process would then start.

We are excited to progress plans with the business community and prepare to deliver our new Economic Growth Strategy. We also recognise that some of the work that the Opportunity Peterborough team does is increasingly being supported by partners, including the Chamber of Commerce and other membership bodies, and we want to work even more closely with them to make sure businesses in the city get the best possible support.
