Greenwoods Solicitors LLP are delighted to announce its charity fundraising total for 2017:
£6,245.60 was raised by employees for their two nominated charities of the year.
Two charities, Nene Park Trust and Papworth Hospital Charity, were selected by employees in December 2016 to receive funds from Greenwood’s fundraising efforts during 2017.
Throughout the year, Greenwoods’ employees took part in activities and challenges every month, including bake sales, dress down days, and quizzes. The majority of funds were raised from the ‘Greenwoods Annual Charity Challenge’ back in August, with over 20 Greenwoods’ employees taking part in a three-part challenge: a mammoth cycle ride around the Peterborough Green Wheel, covering 45 miles, an overnight camp at Ferry Meadows and finally a marathon walk (26.2 miles). Team members battled torrential rain, a thunderstorm, two punctures and various injuries along the way.
It’s an important year for Nene Park Trust as it celebrates its 40th anniversary – and Greenwoods will continue to support them as a corporate partner. Whilst the Papworth Hospital Charity will be supporting Royal Papworth Hospital as its moves to its new home adjacent to Addenbrookes Hospital later this year.
The donations have been allocated to help specific projects within each of the selected charities:
At Nene Park Trust, the funds will help to develop the John Horrell Room at the Visitor Centre into a Volunteer Hub: a clean, warm base for regular and one-off volunteers. The room is ideally placed for visitors to see what volunteering at Nene Park Trust is all about and will hopefully encourage more people to volunteer in the future.
The donation to Papworth Hospital Charity will go towards the Non-Beating (DCD) Heart Transplantation programme at Royal Papworth Hospital. In response to the worldwide shortage of donor hearts for transplantation, a research team at Royal Papworth Hospital, supported by Papworth Hospital Charity has developed a new technique that significantly increases the number of hearts available for transplantation, which could save hundreds of lives internationally as the heart transplant waiting list continues to grow.
Greenwoods Managing Director Robert Dillarstone said, “I am extremely proud of everyone at the firm for raising such a great total for two very deserving local causes. The fact that we allow our employees to nominate and vote for the two charities of the year means they are extremely passionate about those causes, as shown by the incredible effort they make.”
Greenwoods has 100 employees, with the majority based at Peterborough. It is a commercial law firm, supporting companies with a range of legal needs in addition to private client advice.
In 2018, employees have voted to support CPSL Mind and Three Counties Dog Rescue.
