Bourne-based developer and housebuilder Larkfleet Group has welcomed news of changes to Stamp Duty announced by Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne in his Autumn Statement.
Larkfleet Group CEO Karl Hick said:
“The Chancellor’s announcement in his Autumn Statement of a reduction in Stamp Duty to be paid by most home buyers is very welcome. It will help to make homes a little more affordable, particularly for first time buyers, and therefore help some more people take their first steps onto the property ladder.
“The housebuilding industry is already stepping up the construction of new homes as the economy recovers and this small but welcome additional boost to the market will encourage builders to do more. This will be good not just for the housing market, where supply will be increased to help meet a very real demand for new homes, but for the wider economy as construction creates not just new homes but also new jobs.”
Originally focused on house building, the Larkfleet Group is now also a major developer of sustainable energy projects, an investor in sustainability focused research and development projects and a provider of energy-efficiency improvements for new and existing buildings. It now employs almost 150 people at its offices, stores and factories and on construction sites throughout Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Peterborough and Rutland.
