Cleantech Incubation Europe (CIE) is an INTERREG IVC funded project which aims to support and stimulate entrepreneurs and SMEs working in the clean technology sector.
Cleantech is a growing global sector which covers sustainable, or ‘green’, products, services and processes of which one third of the global turnover is generated in the EU.
In order to support the sustainable growth of this sector, regional authorities need to understand how incubators need stronger and more effective policies to develop a positive business environment for SMEs and entrepreneurs. Therefore, the Cleantech Incubation Europe (CIE) project aims to support regional authorities to accelerate growth throughout the cleantech sector by developing better cleantech incubators.
By starting with the research of existing policies that encourage cleantech incubation, including an analysis of 13 existing incubators, and then using the expertise of the partners around Europe, CIE will produce suitable policy interventions that benefit entrepreneurs working in this sector.
A handbook has been created to inform on best practices to help regional authorities create better support environments for cleantech start-ups. The expertise gleaned from this project will support Peterborough as it aspires to create the next generation of incubation centre supporting start ups with environmentally sound products and services. Start-ups in this area will therefore be given the opportunity to connect with relevant partners from all around Europe. The CIE project partners were the cities of:
- Delft,Netherlands(Lead Partner)
- Helsinki,Finland
- Budapest,Hungary
- Paris,France
- Turin,Italy
- Peterborough,UK
