Investors in the Environment (iiE), the green accreditation scheme for organisations throughout the UK, is delighted to have formed a new partnership with The Green Business Network. From September 2016, The Green Business Network will be taking over the running of the Yorkshire and Humber region and supporting its member businesses. 

iiE is a national environmental accreditation scheme, designed to help organisations save money, reduce their impact on the environment, and get promoted for their green credentials. Pennine-Pack, parent company of The Green Business Network, was the first business to become iiE-accredited in Yorkshire, back in October 2012

The iiE scheme’s vision is to put sustainability at the heart of business practices in order to help organisations save money, implement good working practices, and reduce their impact on the environment in a realistic way that works for them.

By ultimately putting together a credible Environmental Management System (EMS), the scheme also allows businesses to keep ahead of emerging environmental legislation, involves staff in securing operational efficiencies, and raises corporate profiles.

“From the start we have believed iiE to be a fantastic option for businesses seeking to improve their environmental performance and gain recognition and accreditation at a reasonable cost,” explains John Mooney from The Green Business Network. “All the other alternatives that we considered were simply too expensive or too time consuming to support a small business like ours. iiE gave us everything we were looking for in an environmental accreditation scheme.”

“When the Yorkshire and Humber franchise became available we decided it was the ideal opportunity for us. We wanted to help this excellent scheme continue to grow and to give our fellow businesses in Yorkshire the chance to benefit as we have.”

The Green Business Network is run by Becky Taylor and John Mooney, two skilled and competent environmental professionals with extensive experience in a range of industries. The team are planning a series of events to assist new members working towards their first accreditation as well as providing help, support and recognition to the efforts of those already accredited.
